Coachable
Being coachable is probably one of the greatest attributes for an athlete and a human being. The ability to listen, learn, take constructive criticism and improve is based on coachability. We are always learning. You will never know everything. It is a lifelong endeavor to perfect the art of living. This art of living is the pursuit of excellence and includes athletics and life. The athlete must be open to the lessons of life both on and off the court. There is a traditional teaching of the “empty cup”. This empty cup teaching reminds us to always keep your cup empty and ready to receive more. In the athletes case this means to learn the lessons of what life has to offer. If you keep your cup full, how can it gain more? Keep an open mind and keep the attitude that you can always learn something new. Coachability will drive needed changes, transformations and improvements necessary to excel in athletics and in life.
